Gao Rou was a Wei minister.
Biography[]
Gao Rou was the cousin of Gao Gan, the general under Yuan Shao, and Gao Rou was also a general of his. Though he was not as good a strategist as Ju Shou or Guo Tu, Gao Rou was an adept military commander. In AD 200, he surrendered to Cao Cao following the decimation of Yuan Shao's army at Guandu, and became a high-ranking official in his administration. Gao Rou was made Active Commander-in-Chief during the rebellion against Cao Shuang under Sima Yi, and was given provisional command of the army to attack Cao Shuang. After the death of the weakling regent, Gao Rou was made Wei Minister of the Interior. Gao Rou remained in the government despite the rebellions of Wang Ling, Guanqiu Jian, Wen Qin, and Zhuge Dan, and took part in the Conquest of Shu. Shortly after the extermination of the Shu army at Chengdu and the subjugation of the kingdom, he fell ill and died.
