Yang Huai was an officer of Liu Zhang. He died in a failed assassination of Liu Bei.

Yang Huai was a general of Liu Zhang, the Governor of Yi Province. Yang Huai tried to lead resistance against Liu Bei's invasion of Yi Province at Luo Castle, and devised a plot to assassinate Liu Bei. Yang Huai and Gao Pei pretended to surrender to Liu Bei and visited him to kill him. However, they were both executed for lack of courtesy before they could carry out their assassination attempt.
